Ukraine Mailing Address Formats and Other International Mailing Information

for mailing letters or packages to or from Ukraine,
such as postal rates to (or from) Ukraine, finding Ukranian addresses, etc.

When mailing an envelope or postcard, leave at least the bottom 16 millimeters (5/8 inch) blank on both front and back. (The postal service's reading and sorting machines might need this space to print bar codes on your mail.)

Address Format Examples

Example with addressee in a town or city:
    Ivan Kottovich Kuluchovskiy        recipient (given name first in this example, but family name can also be first)
    ul. Astronomicheskaya 22, kv. 33   'ul.'(=street) + house number, 'kv.'(=apt.) + apartment number
    Kharkov                            town/city/locality
    12345                              postal code
    UKRAINE                            country name
   
Some variations on this format are also used. For example,
  • Some abbreviations may sometimes be left out.
  • We have seen the postal code either below the town/city, or on the same line before or after the town/city.

Address Format Information

Ukrpost (Ukraine Post)
says an address should include [at least]:
  • the full name
  • street, house number, flat number
  • name of the town/village
  • postal code
  • (for international correspondence, the name of the country)

Many abbreviations are similar to those of Russia.
